• How are iced lattes different from smoothies?

  Our smoothies contain 2.5 cups of organic fruits and vegetables per serving, and no caffeine. Our instant iced lattes each contain 1 cup of organic fruits and vegetables, and 97mg of caffeine - the equivalent of 1.5 shots of espresso, or a cup of coffee. Both are a good source of fiber and are made from plants - nothing else. Some of our smoothies mix up well with water or your favorite milk, while our iced lattes are best enjoyed prepared with milk.

• How much caffeine is in them?

  Each iced latte contains 97mg of caffeine - roughly the same amount as one cup of coffee, or 1.5 espresso shots.

   

• What is the best time to have an iced latte?

  We’re coffee traditionalists, so we’d suggest enjoying a kencko iced latte with breakfast, or as a lunchtime pick-me-up. This is probably not the optimum before-bed drink, unless you’re trying to pull an all-nighter!

• Can you have more than two per day?

  If you’re a two cup of coffee a day kind of person, you could replace both with kencko iced lattes and wind up in the same place, caffeine-wise. Plus you’d be adding two cups of organic produce, and 8g of fiber to your routine. Otherwise, you’re risking upping your caffeine intake and feeling a bit jittery!

• Do they contain any added sugar?

  No. They are sweetened only with fruit - a full cup of it per serving.

   

• What type of milk is best to prepare my iced latte?

  Any will taste great, but our personal favorites include oat milk, vanilla soy milk, and rice milk.

   

• Can I prepare them in advance and have them later?

  Once mixed with liquid, kencko iced lattes behave just like fresh fruit and will begin to oxidize and ferment in the bottle. This process is sped up in direct sunlight or in warmer temperatures. The pressure that builds with fermentation can lead to bottle breakage.

  It’s best to drink your kencko iced latte right away, but if you’re going to wait, be sure to store it in the fridge and drink it within 24 hours. Clean the bottle as soon as possible after use and never leave it lying around with leftover liquid inside.

• Can I mix these with coffee?

  We probably wouldn’t. For one thing, the formulation of our iced lattes tastes best cold. And then there’s the caffeine content: if you mix a cup of iced coffee with a prepared kencko iced latte, you’re looking at roughly 200mg of caffeine and that’s a little rich for our blood.

   

• Can I prepare them with water?

  There’s a risk of ingredients not mixing as well. You’d be missing out on the richer, creamier flavor that comes with preparing your iced latte using milk. We’d hesitate to call it an iced latte at that point!

• Can I make a hot latte?

  For safety reasons, the kencko shaker bottle should NEVER be used with hot or carbonated liquids, or put in a microwave. We also don’t recommend mixing a hot kencko iced latte up in a different container, just from a flavor and consistency standpoint.

   

• Is the BBD (best by date) different from smoothies?

  Nope. We still print a "Best Before" date on the packet, which indicates for how long it will be at its freshest – generally 3-6 months from when you receive it.

  Please note that the "Best Before" date includes a month and a year, and that the product will still be at optimal freshness until the last day of that month. (For example, a "Best Before" date of "03.2024" would still be at its best through the entire month of March, 2024.)

  However, for freeze-dried products like ours, the printed month is a measure of quality, not a reflection of food safety. It's still safe to shake up and enjoy a kencko smoothie for up to three months after its printed "Best Before" date. Since our products are made of natural ingredients, you might notice small changes in color, texture, and/or flavor.

• Are these suitable for kids?

  Given their caffeine content (the equivalent to a full cup of coffee), we don’t recommend kencko iced lattes for younger children.

   

• Are iced lattes suitable for everyone?

  Since they contain the same caffeine content as a cup of coffee, if you have caffeine sensitivity we recommend skipping this product. Similarly, if you’re pregnant you might want to check with your doctor. They may not be the right choice for children, either.
